Gua Sha Therapy

Targeted Soft Tissue Work for Pain & Recovery

At Mosaic, we offer Gua Sha therapy as an optional add-on to acupuncture and manual therapy sessions — especially for patients dealing with tight fascia, chronic stiffness, or stubborn muscle knots that don’t respond to standard massage.

Gua Sha is a traditional soft tissue technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to apply friction and pressure along specific muscles and fascia lines. This stimulates circulation, breaks up adhesions, and promotes faster healing at the local tissue level.

Why We Use Gua Sha at Mosaic

Gua Sha is a powerful tool in our integrative treatment model, especially when:

  • Muscles feel “stuck,” dense, or ropey
  • There’s visible fascial tightness or poor blood flow
  • Range of motion is restricted in a specific joint or muscle group
  • Recovery from training is delayed due to soft tissue congestion
  • Trigger points or postural stress are causing referred pain

It’s most commonly applied to the neck, shoulders, back, IT band, calves, and forearms, depending on your needs.

Benefits of Gua Sha Therapy

  • Increases local circulation and lymphatic flow
  • Releases fascia and myofascial adhesions
  • Reduces pain and stiffness in overused muscle groups
  • Speeds recovery from soft tissue injuries or inflammation
  • Provides immediate relief in targeted areas

You may see temporary red or purple marks (called sha) on the skin after treatment — this is a normal, expected part of the healing response and fades within a few days.

How to Book

Gua Sha can be included as part of your Orthopedic & Sports Acupuncture or Massage Therapy, session. Just ask your provider if it’s appropriate for your treatment plan.

Get the deep, targeted relief your body needs — no fluff, no guesswork. Just results.
